ADA ruling could alter Denver pit bull ban

Article Contributed on: 9/29/2010 10:14:00 AMThe ADA ruling trumps breed-specific ordinances in cities such as Denver and Aurora. Denver first banned pit bulls in 1989 after reported attacks and reinstated the legislation in 2005.
With the ADA ruling in place, City Councilwoman Carla Madison now hopes council could make further exemptions for residents who comply with certain criteria, proving their dogs are well-behaved.

This business of exemptions is still wrong. BSL needs to go. To impose restrictions on owners of some breeds and not others is unjust and an unfair burden. It still gets back to designating specific breed(s) as dangerous and that just is not true. Additional expense and legal burden on the owners of certain breeds is unconstitutional..
