HB 14 is scheduled to be heard yet again in the Criminal Justice Committee on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 9:00 a.m., Ohio Statehouse, 77 S. High Street, Columbus, Room 114. Please support this bill by making calls and writing letters to the members of this committee!  Please show up for support if you can!

Ohio has statewide breed-specific language that declares all “pit bulls” (defined as “any breed commonly known as a pit bull”) in the state to be “vicious” and places restrictions on ownership. HB 14 stands alone as the only Ohio bill that would repeal BSL.

HB 14 was revised during the last committee meeting (June 8) to be a much more comprehensive dog control bill, thereby gaining support from the Ohio Dog Wardens Association. Although the committee’s amendments are not yet officially posted online, KC Dog Blog has the lowdown: http://btoellner.typepad.com/kcdogblog/2011/06/ohio-hb-14-discussion-yesterday.html

KC Dog Blog has also kindly provided the committee amendment text. You may read the amendments here: Ohio HB 14 revised
