Ohio HB 14, which would repeal statewide breed discrimination, is tentatively scheduled for a committee vote next week. That very important vote could make or break the passage of the bill. ‘Pit bull’ friends, foes clash at hearing to change Ohio law

COLUMBUS — Animal-rights activists and dog owners Tuesday urged lawmakers to end Ohio’s discrimination against the ”pit bull” based primarily on its appearance.
But victims and witnesses to ”pit bull” attacks argued the breed is not like other dogs and should retain its distinction under Ohio’s 24-year-old law as the only type of dog singled out as inherently “vicious.”[…]
Critics of the current law argued that there is no true ”pit bull” breed and that the law allows authorities to unscientifically label a dog based on its appearance rather than its behavior.
Opponents of proposed House Bill 14 say it wouldn’t impose the most stringent of restrictions on a ”pit bull” until after it had already seriously injured a person. […]

Stop BSL 
Please encourage the senate to vote today to remove the pit bull off the vicious list,these are the most loyal dogs,my 2 year old pit has been going though classes to be certified as a therapy dogs,and he is not the only one.Think back to Mike Vick,he not only abused his dogs by straving them and using them for breeding and fighting,(giving again the wrong ideal that these dogs are vicious). His dogs were rescured and alots were rehabilitaed and went to good homes,but some went on to become therapy dogs,I guess what I’m tring to say is its not the dog,but how the dogs are raised.Please pass this injustice and not punish the dog breed but hold the owner responsible.Thank you for your time,and I urge you all to call your senator’s to vote today and to remove them from this list.
