Another frustratingly last-minute notification! Trussville still has not posted tonight’s meeting agenda online. And last we had heard, the mayor was supposed to have assigned this issue to a committee for discussion. Now it looks like he is pushing ahead with the proposal anyway. Thanks to Jodi, Aubrie, and Ledy for finding out and passing this information along!
The Trussville, Alabama City Council is considering a ban on owning “breeds of pit bull dogs” within city limits. This issue will be taken up at the council meeting tonight, Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. Meetings take place at City Hall, 131 Main Street, Trussville, Alabama.
It is extremely important to have a strong showing of Trussville area residents at the meeting tonight. The mayor feels he has not received adequate input from residents, and he is pushing forward with the ordinance.
In the meantime, prior to tonight’s meeting, please take the opportunity to send your polite, respectful and informative opposition to breed specific legislation to the Trussville city officials. Please encourage them to seek a resolution to their animal control issues that focuses on irresponsible and reckless dog owners rather than specific breeds of dogs.
