Before anyone jumps for joy about Ohio HB 14, you might really want to go through it with a fine tooth comb, I mean really read it to understand it. It leaves alot of unanswered questions, and really opens up a can of worms for ALL dog owners, not just dogs known as Pit Bulls. Just a few points, under the new law, if your dog bites you, in your home, it can be declared a “Dangerous Dog”. Under the new law, if you are cited into court three times for the same dog running at large, and it does not give a time span for the citations, and the dog does not have to be aggressive, it can be declared dangerous. Really the way the bill is written, I can see alot of dogs being declared dangerous which now involves a whole lot more than the old vicious dog law required. If you have not read the bill I would encourage all dog owners to do so, it affects all all breeds equally, but harshly. I am not pro or con as I don’t own a dog, but people need to be aware of what is in store for them in this new bill once it is signed into law. Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.
