Hobart, IN: City council not interested in BSL

Although a resident requested a “pit bull”-specific ban or restrictions, Hobart city council says it’s not interested in BSL. The proposed ordinance changes will be discussed next in an ordinance committee meeting on Aug 1.

Discussion continues about possible dangerous pet regulations

HOBART | Potential new city regulations regarding vicious animals would put responsibility on pet owners, but it wouldn’t single out specific breeds.

[… City Attorney Anthony] DeBonis said breed-specific legislation doesn’t work. He said any dog breed can be trained to be a vicious pet.

Other city leaders agreed that singling out a specific breed wouldn’t be effective. […]

The matter will be discussed again during an Aug. 1 Ordinance Committee meeting.
