Officials in the city of Many, Iowa discussed the possibility of repealing the city’s ordinance bannine pit bulls at last night’s city council meeting. The city adopted its breed specific ordinance in 2008, but the ordinance has not been enforced. However, several residents recently received a letter from the city telling them they had 10 days to remove their “dangerous” animal from the city limits. Those dog owners appealed the order to remove their dogs at last night’s meeting.

Council voted to table indefinitely a decision on what action it should take to allow time to get a better reading on the desires of the community as a whole.
I was born and raised in Iowa but now live in Tennessee. Hearling about Manly, Iowa implementing a breed specific ban really bothers me. I always thought Iowans were more intelligent than that. Shame on you for your ignorance. Go after the people who don’t care for their animals, which results in those animals becoming frustrated and anti-social. Don’t implement a law just because of one incident and one bad owner. The majority of us bully owners are diligent in training and socialization which leads to a sound, happy, loving animal. Repeal the bully ban and focus on the dog owners who are the problem, not the dogs.

Iowa is quickly moving up to one of the top states for senseless banning. I’m afraid to just move to another town because of it…all of them are banning, and they don’t even know why. Most, if not all of them have had no pit bull “attacks,” to even justify this in the slightest. Even if they did, why are we blaming the breed, when it’s so obviously the owners being irresponsible? Iowa despritely needs BSL legalization.
Whoops, that should be ILLEGALIZED…think my spell check took over. :P
