Best friends Animal Society has issued a formal alert to counter the bills that have been introduced in Rhode Island. SB178 and HB 5287 are companion bills who goal is the same, to create severe restrictions on pit bull type dogs.

Included in these bills are mandatory insurance, confinement, muzzling and several other severe restrictions. These bills would create statewide breed specific legislation.
Rhode Island residents: Use the link to the Best Friends action alert to reach out and add your voice to the opposition to this bill. There must be a strong, loud and clear chorus telling legislators to oppose both of these bills.
Since Ohio’s state law fell last year these is no other precedent for a state law. If these were to pass the an example would be set that we cannot allow.
